This is a unique example of the #11311 Freight Set that Lionel made in 1963. The Catalogued Version of this Set is pictured on Page 158 of our Guide to Lionel Trains, Volume III: Catalogued Sets, 2nd Edition. On rare occasions, Lionel offered Blister Packaging for Display purposes to their retail dealers in order to promote the sale of "low-end" or "starter" Sets. Approximately a dozen different examples of Blister Sets are known to exist. This particular Blister was displayed in a Store-Front window and as such the Trains in the Plastic Blisters 'melted'; we have included the two remaining 'melted' examples for posterity. The Cardboard Background is in great (8) Condition, very clean and solid (we have the original staples that held it to the backing). Also included are the Yellow/White cardstock-backing for each Blister other than the two for Track. Amazingly, the CTC Lockon Blister survived and is in great condition. We are including correct replacement components (except track) that would have been in the Blisters. With some effort, a Collector could have new Blisters fabricated, or more simply, Frame and display the Blister Card on a wall in the Train Room. All Original in our Opinion as stated.
